The sea cucumbers belonging to class Holothuroidea, certain species of sea cucumbers are fished for the prepartion of highly priced export productknown as beach-de-mar which has huge market demand than the other commodities. The sea cucumber fishery was introdue the Sri lanka by the chinese and beche-de-mer appears to have been one of the major commoditis taken to china for centuries.
