- Abstract
The Indian mackerel Rastrelliger kanagurta is a pelagic shoaling fish widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific region. Though the Indian mackerel is a popular fish in Sri Lanka, it is not a major target fishery and is mainly landed as a by-catch from fisheries targeting other small pelagic species.
