Abstract

Phytoplankton and zooplankton samples, collected at 32 stations off Jaffna (Palk Strait),were analyzed in detail for abundance, diversity and distribution during the Northeast Monsoon in 2005. Surface and bottom water samples were also analyzed for chlorophyll-a concentration Biomass in terms of chlorophyll-a averaged 1.10 and 2.13 mg m-3 at the surface and bottom waters respectively.
