Abstract

There are three dominant oceanic tuna species frequently found in Sri Lankan waters namely yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) and skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis). This paper reviews the trends of oceanic tuna landings in Sri Lanka.
