- Abstract
Vegetation structure and associated biodiversity were studied in 4 belt transects of 10 m width. Structure was characterized by density, basal area, stand height, above ground biomass and leaf area. Twelve out of 15 species that were recorded from the area were true mangroves. Avicennia marina was the most dominant species (82.3%) while Lumnitzera racemosa ranked second in abundance, comprising 8.9% of the vegetation. Rhizophora apiculata and R. mucronata formed a fringe at the waterfront....
