- Abstract
The potential of saterlite images to map the seagrass beds of tropcal shallow waters of Sri Lanka is ivaluated using IKONOS images. Remote sensing and GIS are effective tools in long term monitering of the changes of the seagrass distribution. Mapping of seagrass beds yeilds valuble information to study assosiated habitats and facilities to formulate environmental monitering and management of the marine environment.
