- Abstract
Five of the seven species of marine turtles in the world come ashore to nest in Sri Lanka. They are, the green turtle (Chelonia mydas), olive ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea), loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta), hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) and leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea).
