- Abstract
Cladocerans are abundant in most aquatic environments and are important as food for young fish. They are able to reproduce at a rapid rate, both sexually and parthenogenetically. In tropical countries Moina micrura, Ceriodaphnia cornuta and Diaphanasoma modigliani are very common among among freshwater zooplanktons, although they have been recorded from different habitats, such as rice fields, ponds, marshes, lake, reservoirs, mining pools, steams, drains etc.
